Newfoundland's Alastair O'Rielly Appointed New Exec. Director for Northern Coalition

The Northern Coalition which represents indigenous community-based groups in Labrador, Northern Quebec and Nunavut announced that Alastair O'Rielly has agreed to be Executive Director.
The NCC is a non-profit formed to ensure the long-term security of access to the cold water shrimp resource in northern communities, to increase members share of fish resources, and to allocate quota increases among the members on an equitable basis.
The Coalition has enjoyed considerable benefits from its collective access to Northern Shrimp dating back to 1996. All profits have been re-invested in community-based business development initiatives by the respective member organizations. Two of the Coalition's members are now shareholders in offshore factory vessels.
