More buyers than boxes of fish showed up at the Grimsby auction yesterday.
The first casualties of the ongoing Icelandic fishing strike have been felt in Grimsby, with the town's fish market forced to address staffing levels.
Since vessels were tied up in the dispute, supplies have reached record lows, with Tuesday seeing just 514 boxes offered for auction.
It was described as the "least supply ever," on an early week day.
With the strike now in its third month, it has left operator Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises with no option but to cut down on the labor required to run the daily sales...
