Gidrostroy Could become Largest Russian Pollock Producer if PBTF Purchase Closes

A deal that could shake up the Russian pollock industry was announced today. Gidrostroy, one of Russia’s largest fish producers, owned by a senator of the Sakhalin area Alexander Verkhovsky, is considering acquiring Preobrazhensky Base of Trawling Fleet (PBTF). The company is located in Primorye and controlled, according to market participants, the family of the governor of the Sakhalin region.
The amount of the deal may reach RUB 26,5 billion (US$430 million). The deal could make Gidrostroy the biggest pollock producer in Russia, surpassing the volumes produced by The Russian Fish Company. It is expected that the deal will be finally closed in January 2017...
