As Expected, Hokkaido Scallop Landings fall to 21 year low

As has been expected given the pace of landings this season, total scallop production in Hokkaido has fallen to its lowest level in 21 years.
According to the Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, total scallop harvest this year is 183,000 tons, compared with 200,400 tons last year. This represents the weight of scallops in the shell.
In many average years Hokkaido produces around 300,000 tons of scallops in shell.
Landings are not expected to recover much in 2017...
