Iceland's Fishermen Go On Strike in Move that Could Hinder Cod Production

Icelandic fishermen walked off the job last night after wage negotiations between the fishing unions and the producers that employ them broke down.
The decision to strike was ultimately made by the Icelandic Union of Marine Engineers and the Seamen’s Union after they could not come to an agreement with Icelandic fish producers over the number of crew permitted on pelagic vessels. The strike involves 3,500 fishermen.
