Ocean Trawler Owner Orlov Commits to Build Series of Russian Onshore Processing Plants

Russian fishing tycoon Vitaly Orlov is expanding in the processing business through the establishment of several large-scale facilities that will specialize on coastal fish processing. The effort matches a Russian government program to increase onshore processing in the Far East and Murmansk, and supply domestic markets.
The new plants will be established in the Far East and the Murmansk region of Russia.
Several days ago the company commissioned the first plant, which required investments in the volume of about 3 billion rubles (US40 million). The plant will produce 12,000 tonnes of fillets per year under the Borealis brand name.
It is planned that the new plants will be operated by Orlov’s Karat subsidiary..
