Chile and Peru Agree to Improve Pacific Anchovy Management and Expand Direct Consumption Market

Chile and Peru signed a five-point plan to work together in order to improve commercial management of Pacific anchovy stocks in the Humboldt Current.
On August 9, fishery ministers from each country signed the Strategic Action Programme (SAP) for the Humboldt Current Large Marine Ecosystems.
The agreement was designed to promote a multi-sector approach to the management of the area. Chile and Peru want to expand Pacific anchovy production to fill the direct human consumption market.
