Oregon's Pink Shrimp Fleet Elects to Stand Down as Catches Yield Smaller-Sized Shrimp

The West Coast pink shrimp fishery off the Oregon Coast appears to have avoided long lasting impacts from this year’s El Nino. However, the fleet agreed this week to temporarily stand down from fishing because of an overabundance of smaller-sized shrimp.
The start to the West Coast fishery was already delayed for three weeks over a price dispute before nets hit the water. Today, the fleet agreed to hold off on fishing since catches were producing too many smaller-sized shrimp. The delay is indefinite in order to give the stocks more time to grow out...
