Kodiak's Ouzinkie Native Corp Supports Alternative 3 at Council due Experience of Rationalizations

Some Alaskans are supporting efforts to slow the rationalization of the Gulf of Alaska Trawl Fishery. Jackie Muller, Board chair for the Ouzinkie Native Corporation, wrote in support of Sam Cotten's alternative 3 - that would not implement an IFQ system for groundfish. "ONC members are concerned about the impacts of the North Pacific Fisheries Management Council’s decisions regarding GOA trawl bycatch management and how these decisions could adversely impact our community. Consequently, we continue to support the State of Alaska’s Alternative 3 in the GOA Trawl Bycatch motion."
