Jeff Kaufmann Replaces Don Lane as IPHC Commissioner

Jim Balsiger, regional administrator of NOAA Fisheries in Juneau, notified Bob Alverson and Jeff Kauffman on Monday that they had been appointed for a two-year term as U.S. Commissioner for International Pacific Halibut Commission.
Alverson is currently a U.S. Commissioner with a term ending December 13, 2015. Kauffman replaces Don Lane, current U.S. commissioner from Homer, AK.
Kauffman, CEO of the Central Bering Sea Fisherman's Association, which through its subsidiaries is involved in halibut, groundfish and crab operations in the Bering Sea, is based in St. Paul, AK. He also serves on the North Pacific Fishery Management Council's Advisory Panel.
Balsiger’s email to the two men came a day before the Interim Meeting for the IPHC. Lane will serve as Commissioner through December 13, when Kauffman will begin a two-year term. The annual meeting for the IPHC, in which six commissioners from the U.S. and Canada decide...
